On a rainy and
overcast day,
President George W.
Bush and Laura
brightened the sky of
Pensacola, Florida by
visiting and honoring
one of its own. Honor
Bell, an Army veteran
who works as Community
Relations Director at
Naval Air Station
Pensacola was given a
Presidential Pin for
his service to the
Navy and the
Community. On hand
were numerous
dignitaries to include
Governor Jeb Bush,
Senator Mel Martinez,
VADM Kevin Moran, and
NAS Commander, Peter
Frano. When asked what
President Bush said to
him, Bell said that
the President shook
his hand, Hugged him
and said, "Thank you
for your Service."
Friends and news media
were on hand to share
this moment with Bell.
President Bush went on
to the Pensacola Civic
Center to provide more
encouragement and
thanks to the large
numbers of local
citizens who turned
out for the Republican
Presidential rally.
Bell has established a
variety of volunteer
programs in Pensacola
and is an active
volunteer with the
Escambia County School
District. To thank
them for making a
difference in the
lives of others,
President Bush honors
a local volunteer,
called a USA Freedom
Corps Greeter, when he
travels throughout the
United States.
President Bush has met
with more than 550
individuals around the
country, like Bell,
since March 2002.
Gulf1 says
congratulation to
Honor Bell is the kind
of citizen that we all
can look up to.
